SUSTAINABILITY
HIGH ON QUALITY, LOW ON IMPACT
Let’s be real, there’s no such thing as truly sustainable clothing consumption. That realised, we want to do everything we can to craft high quality products that are less harmful to the planet. Our sustainability agenda is guided by our values to craft responsibly, elevate each other and always tell it like it is.
ENVIRONMENT
While we generally encourage misbehaving, this is one of the places we don’t.
Whether it’s reducing water usage, standing against throwaway culture, or using recyclable materials – this is how we're changing the way tights are crafted.
100% Vegan
Our processes don’t cause harm to humans or animals.
Local production
All of our products are made locally in the UK and Italy.
Against throwaway culture
We focus on quality to avoid contributing to a throwaway culture. Read our Tights Care Guide for easy tips on making your tights last longer.
Goodbye Water Waste
99.98% less water used than the average pair of tights
The innovative batch dying systems used for our opaque tights collection means that only 50ml of water is used to produce each pair, 99.98% less than average!
Recycled, reusable packaging
Our packaging is made from recycled material and is 100% recyclable.
You can also reuse it to store your Hedoine products, or upcycle it to house other precious items – jewellery, spare coins, incriminating evidence etc.
HEDOINE RECYCLING PROJECT
One of the next projects on our sustainability agenda is recycling your pre-loved tights and leggings to keep them out of landfill. Hello circularity. We're working to get our recycling project up and running in 2021. Until then, we’ve put together some ways to upcycle your pre-loved tights here.
OEKO-TEX® CERTIFIED
No it’s not the name of Elon Musk’s child. OEKO-TEX® means our tights are rigorously checked for all kinds of horrors – from pesticides and heavy metals to carcinogenic colouring and hundreds of other chemicals.
WASH RESPONSIBLY
35% of microplastics that enter waterways come from washing clothing at home
That’s the equivalent of 50 billion plastic bottles per year! To combat this waste, we’ve teamed up with Guppyfriend to bring you an eco friendly washing bag.
PEOPLE
FEMALE OWNED & OPERATED
The hosiery world is a surprisingly male-dominated industry. Hedoine was founded, and is operated, by Anna and Alexandra - a pair on a mission to set a new standard for legwear while elevating boldness, strength and badass energy.
SMALL, INDEPENDENT TEAMS
When we choose who to work with – from the amazing humans who craft our products, to those who create our packaging – treating them well is something we take seriously. We look for small, independent businesses because we want to lift them up.
FACTORIES THAT CARE
We work with ethical factories & passionate crafters
We produce our tights ethically in Italy and the UK, where workers have fair and safe working conditions, enjoy equal-opportunity employment and craft harmoniously in-line with our values - committed to responsible production.
VALUES
FOR HEDOINES, BY HEDOINES
It’s easy to say we have a great culture, but really – we care about each other. We’re a small team that packs a big punch mainly because of 3 things:
01. We share a vision to elevate bold, passionate like-minded Hedoines
02. We believe in making the best legwear in the world
03. We genuinely like each other. We laugh together (and also sometimes at each other), support each other, work hard and of course - celebrate together.
GREENWASHING-FREE ZONE
Saying it like it is means being transparent about our production processes, authentic about what we stand for and owning up to our mistakes when we get it wrong.
WHY WE’RE OBSESSED WITH HIGH QUALITY
We stand for great quality and to us that means setting new standards in design, functionality and sustainability. Whether it’s our tights, our leggings or whatever it is we do next (Hats? Slippers? Hedoine Hotels?) - we’re here to give it our all and do it to the highest quality. Because if you’re going to reinvent something, you might as well do it right, right?
This is just the beginning
Improving our environmental impact is an ongoing journey and we’re excited to have you along for the (wild) ride.
